CapturePoint Solutions LLC (CPS) is excited to co-sponsor the Vernon Parish School Board “Capturing Better Futures” Initiative, which will offer career training and job opportunities open to students from all nine Vernon Parish, Louisiana high schools. The United Association of Plumbers and Pipefitters (UA) is also co-sponsoring the initiative, joining with CPS to update a classroom and training workspace at Leesville High School and provide instructors, materials, and transportation to train students on pipeline construction and maintenance, steamfitting, and pipelaying. Students who successfully complete the high school Career Training and Education (CTE) program and meet other eligibility requirements will be able to join the UA’s Registered Apprenticeship Program after graduation.

The inaugural class of 30 Vernon Parish high school students launched the workforce training program in August 2023. In January 2024, the new welding lab at Leesville High School was completed and opened for student training. CPS has committed ongoing support for the initiative as it continues to develop the Central Louisiana Regional Carbon Storage Hub, which has the potential to be one of the premier onshore carbon sequestration sites in the nation and includes deep underground CO2 storage space beneath portions of Vernon Parish.
